More on the $150 issue and the protest
– Update –
As seen on a flier in the university:
Dear all,
The outcome of today’s meeting between the SG and President Easton and Alexander Alexandrov was not as expected. A compromise was not reached. So, the next step is organizing a bigger protest in front of AUBG. Come tomorrow, Thursday, April 26th, in front of AUBG’s main building, at 12.45 to protest against the $150 housing deposit. The protest will be peaceful and democratic, and will last for up to 2 hours.
Let’s show the administration we can be united in what we want and that we know what we want!!!
The students.
Despite the reaction of students, the President Easton and VP (yes, I am not putting his full title on purpose) Alexandrov stand strong on their positions and will not even postpone the deposit.
A couple of videos from yesterday’s protest:

The first time I actually saw SOMEthing being done by AUBGers. I was excited and hopeful…!
Apparently I was wrong again - the general excitement had passed and the initial 200 went down to just 20 today. I think tomorrow there will be just 2…
People, WAKE UP!!!

Aha! I was not disappointed by the students today… On the contrary - I was impressed!
Just one thing that makes me even more upset about our beloved administration… They actually advised us to channel our “protesting powers” towards something more important. To quote Ferren - “Why won’t you go and protest against Global Warming or the war in Iraq? There are people dying there. I think it’s too self-centered to protest against such an insignificant matter as the $150.”
WTF ?! Apparently, the whole total sum of all the fees and deposits that an average AUBGer has to pay are insignificant, and apparently it’s too difficult to see what the people are actually complaining about… ?!
APPALLING! X(
